I know what makes agencies adopt new tools, what makes producers ignore them, and where carrier appetite, rate environment, and workflow friction actually live. I'm interested in opportunities where insurance expertise, technology, sales, and partnerships intersect — across InsurTech, insurance software, carrier technology, and distribution platforms.

Why InsurTech

After nine years inside an agency, I've seen where the time goes: repetitive workflows, disconnected systems, manual data entry, and technology that doesn't always fit how insurance professionals actually work.

Outside of work, I've spent years building and automating my own technology — because I enjoy figuring out how systems work and connecting tools to eliminate repetitive tasks. InsurTech sits at the intersection of those two interests: understanding the insurance problem, and using technology to solve it.

Outside of work I build and run my own technology: self-taught, hands-on, and increasingly AI-assisted. I use AI coding tools (mostly Claude) the way a team uses a developer: I define the problem, make the design calls, test the result, and own what ships. A few examples:

Home automation platform

Problem

Lighting, heating and cooling, irrigation, air-quality monitoring and Apple devices from six different vendors, each with its own app and most of them unable to talk to each other.

What I did
  • Connected them into one system on a Raspberry Pi, with a dashboard for each person in the household and permissions to match.
  • Set up alerts for exceptions instead of screens to watch: radon or humidity running high, the house getting too cold, the irrigation controller dropping offline.
  • Keep the configuration in Git, with automatic validation and a dry-run step before any change goes live. I added both after a bad change once took the system offline.
Why it matters

It's the problem agencies live with: systems from different vendors that don't share data, and changes that have to be made without breaking what's already running.

This website, and a disappearing-email mystery

Problem

After I moved this site to Cloudflare and rebuilt its contact form, the form's notification emails silently stopped arriving, not even in spam.

What I did
  • Moved hosting and DNS from Netlify to Cloudflare, with automatic deploys from GitHub.
  • Worked the problem one layer at a time: verified the DNS, MX and SPF records, then confirmed with the form vendor's support team that they weren't blocking delivery.
  • Traced it to iCloud quietly filtering mail from a new sender, fixed it, and documented the fix in case it comes back.
Why it matters

When an agency says an integration "just stopped working," this is the approach: isolate each layer, bring the vendor evidence, and write down the fix.

AI job-matching pipeline

Problem

Finding the few listings that fit specific criteria (fully remote, minimal travel, insurance-technology roles) in a high volume of postings.

What I did
  • Built a workflow that pulled new listings from a jobs API and had an AI model score each one against my criteria.
  • Refined the scoring over several rounds.
  • Retired it in favor of direct recruiter outreach, and decommissioned it cleanly: services removed, API key revoked.
Why it matters

AI triage of a high-volume queue against clear criteria has the same shape as submission intake or renewal review. Knowing when a tool isn't beating the simpler process matters as much as building it.
